My name is Jen Wachtel and I am currently senior majoring in History and minoring in Modern Languages and Linguistics (German), Judaic Studies, and Art History and Museum Studies at UMBC. I am making the most of my time at UMBC by pursuing individual undergraduate research, getting involved in campus leadership, and gaining practical experience through internships. I plan to pursue an Accelerated M.A. in Historical Studies with a concentration in Public History through the UMBC History Department. After I earn my masters, I am interested in a career in archives or museum collections management. I don't have a favorite museum, but I am especially partial to the institutions where I gained practical skills through internships: the National Electronics Museum, the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, the Jewish Museum of Maryland, and the Jewish Historical Society of NJ. I also especially love working in the UMBC Library's Special Collections Department. In my "off hours" you can usually find me in UMBC's Interfaith Center.
